DDR in Schools
West Virginia must have one hell of an obesity problem, because the state recently decided that a Dance Dance Revolution arcade unit will be put in every public school to curb childhood obesity. Though playing DDR doesn’t make you a better dancer, it’s by all means a great way for those not familiar with exercise or just casual exercise to get a short workout.
A study showed that 50 overweight children, aged 7 to 12, reduced risks like heart disease and diabetes when playing DDR at home for 30-minutes a day, five days a week. With video games increasing in the role the play with students, maybe we’ll see kids playing Wii Sports indoors on rainy days as opposed to just sitting around.
