Hello?! Is This Thing On?

Fellow bloggers have scattered like cockroaches when the kitchen light comes on it seems.

I was going to chat about being romantic, I started this post some 12 or so hours ago but after a sleep I can't be bothered saying very much more that how awesome it must be for the women that have creative partners who write songs about/to them.

Inspired by listening to Sting in the car on the way home from work yesterday.

My last partner before Jeremy wrote me a song. He played it to me on his guitar. He was an incurable romantic but that wasn't such a good thing in his case. Love meant everything to him and nothing else did. As such, he and his 3 young sons lived in a squallid shack with no oven, fridge, hot water in the kitchen and most other things. They had only a tin of beetroot and a pack of dried peas in the cupboard when I met them. Every single pair of pants the kids owned had holes in them and there were broken windows everywhere. He was also in debt and there were disconnection notices being served. You wouldn't believe the place if you saw it. I guess I felt sorry for him and basically got his life on track. He let me. He hands over control to women in the name of 'love' but they just use his money and take him for a ride. In the end he left me because he could tell I wasn't 'in love' with him and I admitted it was never going to happen.

His life was back to shit within no time. He accepted his wife back and kicked her out again a total of 4 times since. He's back in debt and no doubt half the appliances he got while I was with him are broken now. Oh yeah, he had been driving unlicensed for 14 years since he didn't have the money to renew his license once. He also had a $800 fine for driving unregistered. I prodded him to get his license back by insisting I drive him to the RTA for testing until he got it. He got it first time. He was also driving a van with no seats in the back and his 2 eldest would just hang on to the back of the front seat. I made him go to the wreckers and get a seat...which he did.

Sooo...romanticism? Only to a point!

Yep...I like Sting...but not because I'm a romantic. I prefer the sad humanitarian stuff like 'They dance alone'. I'm pro amnesty.
